Up until now, the only way to browse Workspace documents in the web app was in a grid view. Artboards would appear as individual items in their document’s overview and you could only view one Artboard at a time.
With the Canvas view, we’re introducing a powerful way to explore your designs. Now, you’ll be able to view all Artboards as they appear in the original document, including any design elements or notes that are outside Artboards.
To switch to the Canvas view, click on View Canvas on any of the pages in the document’s overview. You can scroll in any direction, zoom in and out, and double-click anywhere on an Artboard to leave comments or inspect it.
Make sure you remove any element in your Canvas that you don’t want other people to see, like notes or sensitive information. Anyone viewing your document in Canvas view will be able to see everything on your Canvas.
Using the beta
Before you try out the Canvas view, there are a few things to keep in mind:
- For Catalina users, we recommend using Safari 15.2 (or later) for best performance!
- While Sketch supports four different blurs (normal, background, motion or zoom), motion and zoom blurs might render incorrectly at certain zoom levels.
- You might experience rendering issues while using text on path.
- The Canvas view is currently not available on mobile.
Tell us more: How to submit your feedback
As with any feature in beta, you may experience a few bugs or some unstable moments while testing Canvas view. Although we’re already aware of some of these issues, you may find some we haven’t spotted yet. Please submit any bugs or issues you find, and share any ideas on how we can improve the Canvas view via the feedback button, or by filling out our contact form. We’re all ears!
If your browser suddenly crashes or you get a message saying that your browser is not supported, please share as many details as you can with us. And don’t worry — if you experience a crash or your document is loading slowly, you can always go back to the grid view for optimal performance in the web app. To do so, just head back to the document’s overview.
