Can I use real-time collaboration in Sketch alongside Abstract?
Real-time collaboration is available in beta as part of version 71 of the Mac app. We’re slowly rolling out this update to everyone so if you haven’t been prompted to download it just yet, don’t worry — it will be available for you soon!
At Sketch, we always strive to give you choices when it comes to how you work. That’s why you always have the option to save your files locally to your Mac and hook Abstract into your workflow, if that suits you best.
However, with a Teams subscription in Sketch, you get more than just the Mac app. You also get Cloud, an online workspace where you can store all your documents and libraries and share them with other people in and outside your team for developer handoff, commenting, and more.
And now you can collaborate in real-time on documents you store in Cloud.
Real-time collaboration is only possible thanks to the strong integration we’ve built between the Mac app and Cloud. So only documents saved to Cloud will work with real-time collaboration.
If you want to carry on using Abstract because tools like merging and branching are useful for you, you certainly can. But if you’re just looking for a shared workspace for your documents, and the ability to open any document you need, we encourage you to explore a Teams subscription, and give real-time collaboration a try.
