When our friends at Panic launched Nova, they said, “If we’re being honest, Mac apps are a bit of a lost art.” And we couldn’t agree more. The macOS landscape has changed a lot in the last few years, but we firmly believe that nothing else comes close to a truly native application.
Ten years ago, we launched the first version of Sketch. Back then, deciding whether or not to build a native app wasn’t even a question. There was no better way to take advantage of Apple’s hardware and software integrations, build a beautiful UI, or get so many incredible features and tools ‘for free’.
Today, we still feel the same way. Nothing beats that feeling of being “at home” when you switch between native apps on macOS, knowing exactly where to find the tool you need, or what to do to bring your idea to life. Familiarity helps software get out of the way and lets creativity flourish.
And while we continue to work hard on making our Cloud platform a great space to collaborate, we still believe that the Mac is the perfect place to create. And of course, we think the best way to design is in a truly native application, built beautifully and made for macOS.
Native Mac apps are where so many of our projects begin. They’re the tools we use every day to do our best work. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve created, and we’re happy to continue to call macOS our home.
