Our passion for design goes beyond pixels to reach our community. At Sketch we care deeply about supporting our beloved community in the best way possible. As part of these efforts, we have a set of house rules to help not only our Ambassadors and Advocates, but also us, to keep this community safe and welcoming.
House rules
We know you love the Sketch community as much as we do, so we ask everyone involved in community efforts to take note of — and comply with — the following:
Any form of racist, discriminatory, or sexual language and imagery is not acceptable for any event, venue or platform — including during talks. Event participants violating these rules will be sanctioned or expelled from the event at the discretion of the organizers. We also reserve the right to follow up with any legal procedure, should there be a need for this.
Harassment includes, but is not limited to:
- Verbal comments that reinforce social structures of domination related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion.
- Display of sexual images.
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following.
- Harassing photography or recording.
- Sustained disruption of talks or other events.
- Inappropriate physical contact.
- Unwelcome sexual attention.
- Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior.
Enforcement
We ask attendees to comply with these rules and any further requests from the organizers in case of a violation. Organizers, exhibitors, sponsors and guest speakers are also subject to our house rules.
If a participant engages in harassing behaviour, organizers retain the right to take action and keep their event a welcoming environment for all participants. This includes warning the offender or expulsion from any future events, as well as us following up with further investigations to take necessary means.
We expect participants to follow these rules at all event venues and event-related social activities.
We’re sure you’ll stick to our house rules, and we’d hate to see you go, but we reserve the right to follow up with further investigation and procedures in any violation cases.
Reporting
If someone makes you or anyone else feel unsafe or unwelcome, please report it as soon as possible. For this, you can make a report either personally or anonymously.
Anonymous Report
If you would like to make an anonymous report, you can do this using our anonymous report form. This form does not require an email to submit.
If you make an anonymous report, we can’t follow up with you directly, but we’ll fully investigate it and take whatever action is necessary to prevent a recurrence.
By submitting this form, you confirm that you have read and agree to Sketch’s Privacy statement.
Personal Report
You can make a personal report by contacting the organizer or a member of the Sketch Community team directly.
When taking a personal report, organizers will ensure you are safe and cannot be overheard. They may involve other event staff to ensure your report is managed properly. Once safe, we’ll ask you to tell us about what happened. This can be upsetting, but we’ll handle it as respectfully as possible, and you can bring someone to support you. You won’t be asked to confront anyone and we won’t tell anyone who you are.
If you are an attendee at a meetup event and feel in any way unsafe, threatened or harrassed by a meetup organizer, please contact the Sketch Community Team community@sketch.com.
Event support for Ambassadors and Advocates
With the shift toward online events, we know that organizers can find it more difficult to protect themselves from online attacks or harassment. To help you feel more secure, starting from today, any Ambassador or Advocate can contact our Community team directly to arrange event support. With this, we can get together and assess how we can help you out, be it putting together the event itself, attending all your future events as an extra layer of comfort or anything you might need so we can look into it right away. To arrange this, please contact community@sketch.com.
