What do I need to know before starting my free Sketch trial?

Before you get started with your 30-day free trial, below are some common questions that you might be wondering about.

What happens when the trial ends?

At the end of the trial, you would need to add billing and credit card details in order to activate the subscription and continue using Sketch.

You can choose to be billed $120 USD per editor yearly or $12 USD per editor monthly.

Can I extend or skip the trial?

We don’t generally offer trial extensions, but please get in touch with us so we can review your request. Once the trial period ends, you will need to add valid billing and credit card details in order to keep your subscription active.

We can however offer to skip the trial period upon your request. Before we skip the trial period, please note:

  • The credit card on file will be charged immediately after the trial is ended.
  • You will need to keep a valid card on file at all times.
  • The trial can’t be reinstated.

How many trials can I create?

You can trial the subscription for a one-time, limited term of 30 (thirty) consecutive days for the sole purpose of testing and evaluating Sketch.

Please note that we are entitled to terminate any subscriptions, including trials, with immediate effect and without prior notice in the event You fail to comply with the Agreement or applicable laws and regulations.

Will I lose my documents if I don’t subscribe?

If you don’t subscribe to Sketch once your 30-day trial period is over, documents saved within the Workspace will become read-only for a period of 90 days after trial expires.

Please note that Workspace and all stored documents will be permanently deleted 90 days after the expiration date. We strongly suggest to Sign In and download your documents to your device.

If you delete your Workspace in the meantime, any documents within it will also be deleted.

I don’t want to subscribe after the trial, do I need to do anything?

If you don’t want to subscribe to Sketch once the trial is over, and credit card details were not added — your Workspace will automatically expire.

You will be able to reactivate your Workspace within 90 days of expiration by adding valid billing and credit card details.

If you don’t reactivate your trial within this grace period, the Workspace and all stored documents will be permanently deleted 90 days after the expiration date.

I have a Mac-only license, will I lose it if I subscribe to Sketch?

You will no longer need to use your Mac-only license once you subscribe to Sketch; your subscription includes the Mac app.

If you still have an active Mac-only license, please get in touch with our support team — we’ll help you make the switch to a subscription.

My device is registered with my license, how do I register it with the trial?

If you used Sketch with a Mac-only license before, you must unlink it. Launch the Mac app, head to Sketch > Settings from the menu bar, navigate to the Account tab, and select Unlink Device. Alternatively, access the License Manager and remove all devices using the Unlink option.

You can then sign in to the Mac app as an Editor using your email and password combination with the below steps:

  1. Visit our release page and download a preferred version of the Mac app onto the device.
  2. Once the download is completed, install the app by dragging the Sketch icon to the Applications folder.
  3. Launch the Mac app and click the Sign In button.
  4. Enter your Email Address and Password combination and click on the Sign In button.

If you decide not to subscribe after your 30-day trial and remain with your license account, it is possible to re-register your device by inserting your existing license key number.
