Why do I need to update Sketch for macOS Tahoe?

Apple’s macOS Tahoe update introduces system-level changes that impact how apps behave. Versions of Sketch prior to Athens (2025.1) do not work reliably with Tahoe and you may run into issues. Updating Sketch gives you smooth performance and compatibility with Apple’s latest operating system.

To ensure the Mac app works properly on macOS Tahoe, update to Athens (2025.1) or later.

What happens if I don’t update?

If you continue using a version older than 2025.1 on macOS Tahoe, you might run into:

  • Intermittent failures when you make a selection
  • Selection boxes not behaving consistently
  • General instability or inconsistent behavior.

These issues are specific to the interaction between older builds and Tahoe, and they won’t improve without updating.

Do I need to update right away?

Yes. If you plan to use macOS Tahoe, you’ll need to update to version 2025.1 or later to avoid these issues. Staying on older builds will likely result in you experiencing the issues above.
