The General tab gives you control over the Mac app’s appearance, behavior, and default preferences.

  1. Appearance gives you the option to use a light or dark UI for the Mac app, regardless of your system settings (macOS Mojave 10.14 or later).
  2. Canvas sets the canvas to light or dark, independent of your Appearance setting.
  3. App Icon changes the app icon for Sketch.
  4. Tabs controls whether documents open in tabs (document list) or in separate windows.
  5. Open & Save to defines whether documents open and save to a Workspace or locally by default.
  6. Auto Save is enabled by default and saves documents automatically as you work. For local documents, this also provides access to previous versions using the macOS Versions feature.
  7. Command Bar sets a custom shortcut and determines whether the Command Bar is the default way to replace Components.
  8. MCP Server gives you the option to allow AI clients to interact with your open documents.
  9. Dialogs gives you the option to reset all warning dialogs so they appear again the next time you perform those actions.
