1.2 What is Sketch?

This lesson gives you an overview of Sketch’s building blocks: a native Mac app with powerful design tools, a web app for feedback and handoff, and a single Workspace to bring all your ideas and the people you collaborate with together.

Some UI in this video is outdated — no worries, this doesn’t affect how things work. We’ll share an updated version soon!

Key learnings

  • Your Workspace is where you’ll keep all of your documents together, in sync and available at any time.

  • Explore the Mac app to find everything you need to build and maintain projects and design systems at scale.

  • Collaborate in real-time with other people right in the Mac app.

  • When you’re ready to share your work, invite stakeholders to view documents in full fidelity, test prototypes, and hand designs off to developers in the web app.
