iOS app (iPhone and iPad)

We’ve built a new iOS app from the ground up that enables you to view documents in every Workspace that you’re part of, play prototypes to test your designs, and mirror your Workspace documents too. All of this is, on the go.

In this article, you’ll find frequently asked questions from our community about how the app works. You can also jump in and get started reading our in-depth guide for the iOS app. Also, if you have already downloaded the app but are running into some unexpected results, please read our troubleshooting guide.

What do I need to use the iOS app?

You’ll need an iPhone running iOS 15.0 or later; an iPad running iPadOS 16.0 or later, a Sketch account with access to one or more Workspaces, and an internet connection. Please note that since you require a Workspace, Mac-only licenses are not supported by the iOS app on iPhone or iPad. We’re just starting to roll out features for the iOS app, so keeping your iPhone or iPad up to date with the latest operating system versions will ensure you get the newest features too!

How can I mirror my files with the iOS app?

All mirroring in the iOS app happens via your Workspace. To begin mirroring, save your document to a Workspace.

Mirroring is now much easier because you don’t need to be on the same network as the Mac app; your iPhone and your Mac can be on different networks if you prefer; just make sure you use the same account to sign in to the Mac app and on your iPhone.

Once your document is saved on your Workspace, open it in the Mac app and also in your iPhone to start mirroring. An icon will appear on the top right corner of the iPhone screen; tap on it to start mirroring.

Do I need to switch to a Standard Plan to use the iOS app?

Yes. To mirror designs on your iPhone or iPad, you’ll need an active subscription.

iPad Support

The iOS app works on your iPad and includes features like viewing files offline, real-time updates, and support for opening local files via AirDrop or file sharing services like Google Drive and Dropbox.

Mirroring on iPad works just like it does on iPhone: save your file to your Workspace, then open it on both your Mac and your iPad. Make sure you’re using version 98 or later.

With the iPad app, you get a full canvas view, while on iPhone, you’ll just see individual frames. Learn more about the iOS app.
